Lili Haydn – violin and voice 

 

~Rolling Stone called her music “fiery and virtuosic...”   George Clinton called her "the Jimi Hendrix of the violin."

 

Lili Haydn has released five critically acclaimed recordings as a solo artist, which have been a favorite on NPR, praising her as "A mix of neo-psychedelic flower child and rock star virtuoso...Heifetz meet Hendrix.

Lili is also known for her legendary collaborations; she has played with, sung with, and opened for everyone from Roger Waters, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Josh Groban, Nusrat Fateh, Ali Khan, and George Clinton's P-Funk All Stars to name a few. Both as a solo artist and as support, Lili has toured the world and performed in premiere concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Vienna Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl.

 

This year Lili joined forces with master musicians from around the globe to form O P I U M . M 0 0 N, a  sensual and groovy collaboration of Violin/Voice, Santoor (Persian hammered dulcimer), ancient sounding percussion, and dub bass. Their self-titled album Opium Moon was released in 2018, and they received the 2019 Grammy award for best new age album.

 

In addition to Lili's extensive recording and touring career, you can hear Lili’s unique sound in over 50 films (Pirates of the Caribbean, Ben Hur, Snowpiercer), both as solo violin and voice, and as composer (Anita, Transparent, etc.). 

 

A humanitarian and activist, Lili also performs regularly for human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, with the belief that music has the power to uplift and heal.
